The 2018 Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese is still quite sulfitic on the nose but clear, bright and refined, with fragrant floral and flint stone aromas. Sweet but filigreed and lush on the palate, this is a salty-piquant and well-structured Spätlese with stimulating grip and mineral tension. I'd keep this wine for 15 to 20 years, though, before I start serving it. 8.5% alcohol. Tasted from AP 21 19 in June 2019. Drink date: 2040-2080.
