From vines averaging 25 years of age on gneiss and loess soils whose grapes were picked at the end of October, the 2017 Ried Kellerberg Riesling Smaragd offers a ripe and concentrated bouquet of mangoes, lemons, marilles and crushed stones. Very elegant and pure on the well-balanced but tensioned palate, this is a remarkably fine Kellerberg with a very long and stimulating minerally finish. Surely one of the best Kellerberg Rieslings you can find from this vintage. Really delicate, fresh and expressive without too much power. Tasted in Dürnstein/Wachau, September 2018. Drink date: 2022-2040.
