A limpid ruby red with a garnet diadem, this Barolo from the Novello sub-zone of the Ravera MGA has an arresting scent. It is imbued with elegance and potential, like a tightly furled rosebud, with potent, but fine tannins, and palpable tension on the palate. Let it breathe and layers of captivating flavours reveal themselves seemingly at will, first, rose petals, then partially desiccated cherries, raspberries, and finally subtle spice, alongside a hint of old leather. While signs of evolution add nuance, there is so much life and vibrancy here. Best: 2025-2030. Tasted May 2022.
