The 2023 Les Hauts de Smith is terrific. This is an especially powerful vintage for Les Hauts. The marriage of Merlot opulence and Cabernet Sauvignon structure is so good here, as the natural attributes of both varieties seemed dialed up. Dark red fruit, plum, gravel and white pepper infuse the 2023 with tons of character. This is a hugely overachieving wine this year. Drinking window: 2027-2038.
